Who We Are
National Maritime Administration and Inspection Service
Mozambique Maritime Authority is the Maritime Administration Office under the Government of the Republic of Mozambique, a member state of the International Maritime Organization.
The National Maritime Administration and Inspection Service (NMAIS) is constantly innovating and optimizing certification and registration processes, making them more automated and simpler.
Role and Responsibilities
What the Administration is responsible for
The administration is responsible for the formulation and implementation of national maritime policies and legislation to ensure maritime safety, maritime education, certification, and ship registration, while also supporting compliance with international maritime conventions.
Maritime Safety
Setting and enforcing safety standards for vessels operating under the national flag and in national waters.
Maritime Education
Supporting the standards of training, certification and watchkeeping that seafarers depend on.
Certification
Issuing statutory ship certificates and seafarer certificates, with online verification of authenticity.
Ship Registration
Maintaining the national ship register and the services that support it.
International Maritime Compliance
Supporting compliance with the conventions of the International Maritime Organization.
